According to reports from Football Insider, Leeds United are looking to loan Aapo Halme out to an English club, with Barnsley currently the front-runners for his signature.
The 21-year-old made just four league appearances for the Whites last term, so a temporary spell with the Tykes would provide him with some valuable Championship experience.
What’s the story?
Barnsley are apparently looking to bring in two players from Elland Road. Alongside the Finnish youngster the newly-promoted side are looking to sign Mallik Wilks.
The report goes on to state how much Bielsa rates Halme and how he believes that he has a bright future at the club.
Even if a move to Oakwell doesn’t materialise it is likely that the 21-year-old will spend a season away from Elland Road, as the article states Leeds are looking for an English club to take him on next term.
Berardi’s future
Halme’s departure this summer may indicate that Gaetano Berardi still has a part to play at the club next season.
There has been speculation that the Switzerland international could be on his way to Brescia.
Due to the 5 ft 10 man’s poor disciplinary record and inability to keep his head at a vital moment last term in the play-offs against Derby, Leeds fans have been calling for him to leave Elland Road this summer.

With United being linked to Brighton and Hove Albion centre-back Ben White, there was reason to think that his arrival could spell the end for Berardi, but with Hugo Diaz leaving and now Halme seemingly on his way out there could well be a place for the 30-year-old in the squad for the 2019/20 season.
