Leeds United have taken an interest in young Paris Saint-Germain defender Harold Voyer, according to Foot Mercato.
What’s the word?
Head coach Thomas Christiansen has moved quickly in the transfer window since his arrival at Elland Road last month.
The Dane has recruited six new faces, and it seems that a defender is next on his list.
Foot Mercato suggests that Newcastle United are currently in the driving seat with regards to signing 20-year-old Voyer, but both Leeds and Fulham are keen.
The youngster, who has not made any first-team appearances for PSG, is available on a free transfer after his contract at Parc des Princes expired at the start of this month.
Is he worth moving for?
Bringing Voyer to Elland Road would not be a huge ask financially, but his inexperience is a risk.
The Whites are in need of some reinforcements at the back, so if they were to bring in the young gun, they would also require a more established defender.
Even though the Championship does not contain the same level of quality as Ligue 1, not having any experience of senior football puts Voyer in a vulnerable position.
On the flip side, he is a promising young talent, and if given time to develop he could become a key player for Leeds, but as mentioned, experience trumps youth on this occasion.
Also, the club may struggle to compete with Newcastle given that they can offer Voyer Premier League football.
