It’s time for Manchester United to get their Europa League campaign back on track.
Although it’s not Jose Mourinho’s favourite competition in the world, it’s still one they’ll want to do well in and they surely feel they can win the trophy given the quality in their ranks.
An opportunity to see their reputation slightly tarnished comes tonight, though, in the guise of the Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk, who are by far the underdogs in this game, and the group as a whole.
United, really should be looking for a handsome win whilst Mourinho will be assessing his squad to see who might be able to help them get their Premier League title challenge going again after a brief blip was ended by a win over Leicester.
It’s an opportunity for United’s fringe players to impress too, then, and we think this THREE in particular need to show their worth tonight…
Morgan Schneiderlin
Schneiderlin has had a pretty tough time in his United career and really needs to start proving he is good enough to stay at the club. He’s shown very brief flashes of what he can do but that simply isn’t enough as he’s witnessed Ander Herrera get ahead of him as the man to take over from Michael Carrick in United’s midfield. A good 90 minutes really is needed!
Marcos Rojo
The left-back position is suddenly available, or at least more so than it was a few weeks ago. Luke Shaw looked like he had it pretty nailed on but after a couple of poor performances and some niggling injuries it could be anyone’s now.
Daley Blind played there in the Premier League but really he isn’t an out and out left-back which means with a good showing Rojo could be in line for more starts.
Wayne Rooney
The seemingly increasingly inevitable happened last weekend as Rooney was finally dropped. United looked better for it as a whole too and so now it’s up to the skipper to prove his worth to Mourinho against Zorya.
The time out of the spotlight may have done him the world of good so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a good performance from England’s record goalscorer.
