After ending their 15-year stay in the National League, hopes were high of a positive start to life in League Two. However, Wrexham lost 5-3 at home to Milton Keynes Dons in the first game of the season – much to the surprise of supporters and co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney. Following the release of the third series of Welcome to Wrexham, the reactions of the Hollywood duo have been captured on the TV show.

With Wrexham trailing, McElhenney, Reynolds and the Welsh side's Executive Director Humphrey Ker had a chat from inside the Racecourse about the situation. The exchange goes…
McElhenney: "Humphrey [Ker], why did you tell us to go to this league? I like the other league better."
Reynolds: "We lost like three times in the other one – like all year! Let's go back."
McElhenney: "Yeah, is that an option."
McElhenney later said on camera: "We knew at some point we were going to have to reckon with the idea that at some point we may have to be careful with what we wish for. I just didn't realise it was going to happen immediately in the beginning of the League Two campaign."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Wrexham recovered from that loss and a slow start to life in League Two, before racing up the table and finishing the season in second – securing their second straight promotion. The task is only going to get harder in League One as the Red Dragons aim to reach the Premier League one day.
