Arsenal got their Europa League campaign off to a flying start with an emphatic 4-2 victory over Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night. Aside from seeing his side concede two late consolation goals, there were plenty of positive for Unai Emery to take from the performance.
One of the key factors behind Arsenal’s triumph on the night was the performance of Alex Iwobi. The winger was a constant menace to the Vorskla defence and registered an assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opening goal.

Given the relative lack of natural wide players in the Gunners’ squad, it is crucial that Iwobi can be effective when called upon and he rose to that challenge on Thursday night. In that kind of form, the powerful 22-year-old is so hard to defend against.
Given how well the Nigeria international played against Vorskla, he deserves the chance to retain his starting berth for the clash with Everton on Sunday.
We asked Arsenal fans if they agreed that Iwobi had shown enough to earn a first XI spot for this weekend’s Premier League encounter and 76% said yes. See the full results below.
