Leeds will take the short trip to Huddersfield without the suspended Kalvin Phillips in their ranks, and Marcelo Bielsa has suggested that Ben White could take his place.
The on-loan Brighton man has been a stalwart in defence this season and picked up numerous plaudits for his fine efforts, so it would be a bit of a bold call to move him from his natural position.
He has only played a few minutes in midfield this term and although a pass accuracy of 86% would suggest he is capable of the switch, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his impressive standard.
Virtually impossible: Can you name the year all of these Leeds flops arrived at Elland Road?
Supporters seem to be split on the matter and given he will replace Phillips it is a big challenge for White to prove himself, though given how composed and assured he is there shouldn’t be too much doubt about him playing further forward.
There are other supporters with more confidence and trust in Marcelo Bielsa’s decision-making. After all, he has Stuart Dallas working brilliantly as a utility player and with the right guidance White should also do well.
One of Phillips’ main roles in the team is to break up player and his 3.7 tackles per game have been very effective. If White emulates that aspect of his game while keeping things simple and tidy on the ball then Huddersfield may not get much luck.
Leeds have conceded just 10 goals in 19 games with several different defenders taking to the field, and that shows the strength of Bielsa’s system, though these fans think he is making the right call in regards to White, too.
In other Leeds news, Phil Hay has name-dropped a potential replacement for Eddie Nketiah should be recalled by Arsenal.
